New England Baroque Soloists

The New England Baroque Soloists is one of the leading chamber music groups today. They play the rich and colorful repertoire of the baroque period featuring newly discovered works as well as well known compositions by Bach, Handel, Telemann and others.

THE PLAYERS


Joel Pitchon, violin, is an Associate Professor of violin and chamber music at Smith College in Massachusetts. He is the former concertmaster of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and the EOS Chamber Orchestra (NY) among others. The New York Times has called him "...superb..."

Eva Burmeister, violin, is a graduate of the Juilliard School. She accepted Kurt Masur’s invitation to join the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra where she performed for seven years as first violin. She now devotes her time to her solo and chamber music career.

Ronald Feldman, cello, a West Stockbridge resident, now devotes his musical energies to conducting (the Berkshire Symphony Orchestra) and chamber music. Prior to that, he was a distinguished member of the Boston Symphony, having been the youngest cellist to join the orchestra.

Douglas Myers, trumpet and horn, has been solo trumpet in orchestras in the U.S., Europe and Asia, before turning his attention to a career and soloist and chamber musician. He specialized in the newly invented corno da caccia, or piccolo French horn.
The New York Times says “Played with sheer musicianship….beautiful sound.”

Vincent Lionti, viola, is a member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and is active in Chamber Music throughout the Northeast. Vincent’s in-laws are longtime Salisbury residents.

Ellen Katz Willner, oboe, is one of the country’s leading oboists. She is a member of the American Ballet Theatre orchestra and performs as oboe soloist with the New England Baroque Soloists as well as with many other distinguished chamber music groups.

Ben Woodward, keyboards, is active in the New York area as organist, pianist, conductor, coach, teacher and musicologist. A graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge in the UK, from where he recently received his Honorary Masters, he is Organist and Director of Music at St Mary's Church in Stamford
