Giving to the Cantilena Chamber Choir
The Choir operates under the umbrella of Tonality Now, Inc., a
501(c)3 non profit corporation founded in 1985 by Andrea Goodman
along with the Pulitzer-prize winning composer David del Tredici
among others. The intention of the corporation is the sponsor concerts
and workshops in tonal music, of course in an updated sense.
The cost of the concert series is only partially covered by box
office receipts. The Choir has been fortunate to receive grants from several
businesses such as the Berkshire Bank, the Golub Foundation, Greylock Federal
Credit Union, General Dynamics, Legacy Banks, and Massachusetts local Cultural
Council grants from Sheffield, Great Barrington, Pittsfield, and Lee. If
you or your business would like to provide a tax-deductible donation to
help cover the costs of a specific concert or towards general operating expenses,
please feel free to call or email us if you need further information. Underwriting
concerts and sponsoring the participation of specific instruments for our
chamber concerts are most welcome. All donors receive priority seating and
are recognized in all printed matter and ads generated by the Choir.

Auditions and Membership
Participation in the Choir will be considered on the basis of a personal
audition with the Director by appointment by calling 518-791-0185
or email at satbchoir@yahoo.com. Applicants must possess a good
voice and have had some recent experience in singing choral or
solo literature. Participation in the Choir will be determined
by current openings and balance considerations. Generally there
are 6 singers per section, although some sections may be added
to or reduced on a per concert basis.
Membership:
Members are not charged dues for participation, but must purchase
their own scores. Occasional the choir is given a travel
stipend for concerts out of town.
Rehearsals:
Rehearsals begin on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008, 7:00pm
at the Lee Elementary School Music room, 300 Greylock Street
in Lee (behind the High School). The Choir then meets every
Wednesday until the concert with the exception of Wednesday,
November 21st. After the December concerts, the choir resumes
rehearsals on Wednesday, January 9, 2008.
